换羽 molting 鸟类身体羽毛的定期更换。换羽的时期、次数和规律因种类而异。大多数成鸟每年秋季换羽1次,有些种类1年换2次,1次在春季,1次在秋季;个别鸟种(如雷鸟)雌性1年换3次,雄性换4次。秋季换羽是全部更换,其余各次一般是换部分羽毛。候鸟大多换羽后迁飞,但有的在换羽中开始迁飞,有的在越冬区换羽。大形羽毛(如飞羽和尾羽)的更换有一定的规律性。尾羽一般先由最外侧1对起按顺序向中间更换,如雉;有的先由最中间开始,如鹑;啄木鸟飞羽的更换顺序是:次级飞羽由两侧开始,初级飞羽由中间开始。换羽期间的鸟类飞行力不强,一般比较隐蔽。鸭类秋季换羽时,飞羽几乎同时脱落,失去飞行能力。这时,雄鸭的羽衣酷似雌性,称闺羽。大多数种类的幼鸟在离巢出飞时开始换羽。凡是雌雄羽色不同的鸟类,幼鸟都似雌鸟;凡是雌雄羽色相似的,幼鸟常与亲鸟都不相同。换羽的机制与内分泌作用有关,特别是甲状腺在换羽期间加强活动,所分泌的甲状腺素促进新陈代谢,有利于羽毛的迅速更新。另外,换羽与生殖相互交替,在生殖腺活动时,换羽是抑制的,因此,秋季换羽在生殖期以后才开始。 |
