亦农，原名张丙蔚。河北顺平人。中共党员。1942年毕业于华北联合大学文学系。1937年参加革命工作，历任晋察冀边区青年联合救国会训练部长，华北联合大学文艺学院文学系学员，晋察冀边区灵寿县抗联会宣传部长，《晋察冀日报》及《人民日报》记者、记者部主任、高级记者，中共中央工党 政治部办公室副主任，国家计委政工组副组长，《人民日报》记者部主任，《报告文学》杂志主编，高级记者。中国记者协会第四届理事。1945年开始发表作品。1956年加入中国作家协会。
