形态特征:水麦冬科水麦冬属多年生湿生草本植物，植株粗壮。叶基生，条形,长7-30厘米，宽4-8毫米。花葶粗壮，直立，总状花序顶生，具多数密生的花，6-7月开花，花无苞片，花小，花梗长约1毫米;花披片6枚，绿色，2轮排列，外轮呈宽卵形，内轮较狭;雌蕊淡绿色，由6枚合生心皮组成，柱头毛笔状。蒴果6棱状椭圆形或卵形，长3-5毫米，直径约2毫米。
生境分布 生于湿砂地或海边盐滩上，也生于海拔达3900米的山坡湿草地。分布于东北、华北、西北、西南各省区。也广布于北半球温带及寒带。
