| 瘤牛 Bos indicus 热带地区特有牛种。有乳用、肉用及役用等类型。因鬐甲部有肌肉组织隆起如瘤，故名。耐热、耐旱、耐粗饲。体格较高，头面狭长，额宽而突出，颈垂特别发达，蹄质坚实。汗腺多，腺体大。对焦虫病有较强的抵抗力。皮肤分泌物有异味，能防壁虱和蚊虻。瘤牛主要品种有：①辛地红牛。乳役兼用。原产巴基斯坦信德省，印度、巴基斯坦普遍饲养。中国于本世纪40年代开始引入，在海南等地饲养。终年放牧，在每头每日补给精料1.5～2千克条件下。泌乳期240～300天，产奶量1000千克以上。②婆罗门牛。肉用型。由美国用几种印度瘤牛略加欧洲牛血液育成。繁殖力强，利用年限长。出肉率高，经肥育后屠宰率可达60％～62％。许多国家利用瘤牛与本地牛杂交培育成含不同程度瘤牛血液的新品种。
