中国一所综合性高等农业学校。设于重庆市。1950年由四川省立教育学院农艺系、园艺系、农产制造系和华西大学农艺系及私立相辉学院农艺系合并建立。经过1952～1953年院系调整，集中了西南地区十多所院校大部分农科和经济管理学科的师资和设备。1985～1986年共设置10个系：农学系、土壤农化系、植物保护系、园艺系、蚕桑系、农业经济系、农业工程系、食品学系、畜牧兽医系和水产系；并办有中央农业管理干部学院的分院。此外还有基础科学部、生物科学部和中心实验室、经济作物研究所和数量遗传、棉花、油菜、甘蔗、土壤肥力与免耕、土壤资源、农业化学、昆虫分类与生理、应用昆虫及螨类、蚕的遗传、桑育种、果树、农业环境保护、农业生态工程、蔬菜、制茶、植物遗传工程、食品加工贮藏、农业经济、农业教育等20个研究室，其他实验室72个，以及教学实验场和农机实习工厂，还在四川省内建有12个实验基地。图书馆藏书72万余册，中外文期刊1600余种。1985年教职工1798人，其中教师 685人（教授19人，副教授80人，讲师 248人,教员36人,助教302人）。专职科研人员54人。在校本科生3010人,研究生168人。建校以来已为国家培养本科、专科生11663人，研究生93人。取得重要科学研究成果133项。
