lotus root

   睡莲科莲属宿根水生植物。其地下茎肥大部分为藕。横生于泥土中,为重要水生蔬菜之一。外皮黄 褐色,肉肥厚,灰白色,微甜而质脆。根茎中有管状小孔,折断处有藕丝相连。藕分为藕头、藕身和后把3部分,藕肉可食用及制淀粉。中医学上用节入药,性平味涩,功能化瘀止血,主治吐血、便血等证。藕节及地上的荷叶、莲子心、莲蓬均可入药。
