| 羽毛 feather 鸟类表皮细胞衍生的角质化产物。被覆在体表，质轻而韧，略有弹性，具防水性，有护体、保温、飞翔等功能。成鸟的羽毛通常分为3种：①正羽。包括被覆体外的大型羽片（廓羽）以及在翅和尾部着生的飞羽和尾羽。飞羽和尾羽的数目是恒定的。羽轴端为羽根，深植于皮肤中。羽轴两侧斜生许多并行的羽支，各羽支两侧更分出排列整齐的羽小支。羽支远侧的1列羽小支具有许多羽纤支，其尖端有细钩，与羽支近侧的羽小支连接，组成扁平而有弹性的羽片，以扇动空气和保护身体。②绒羽，又名。密生在正羽下面，羽支细长成丝状，着生于羽根的顶端。羽小支短，不具羽纤支或细钩，因此羽支蓬松成绒形。水禽绒羽比较发达，鸭绒就是这种羽毛。鹭类、鹦鹉类、鹰类往往具有一种特殊绒羽，稍一触动即碎成粉状，所以称粉，它可以除去体外寄生虫和污物。③纤羽。羽轴细长，杂在正羽和绒羽之中。羽支和羽小支数目很少或者没有，是一种退化了的正羽。
