| 三白草科 Saururaceae 双子叶植物纲木兰亚纲的一科。多年生草本，常生湿地。单叶，互生，具和叶柄连生的托叶。花两性，整齐，成穗状或总状花序，无花被；雄蕊3～6～8，子房上位或半下位，心皮3～4，分离，基部结合为一，通常每心皮有2～10个直生胚珠，但三白草属常每心皮只有一胚珠。果实为半浆质的蓇葖或肉质而顶端裂开的蒴果。该科有5属7种，分布于东亚和北美。中国有3属4种。裸蒴属为中国特产，有两种，分布于西南及华南；三白草属及蕺菜属各一种。蕺菜俗称鱼腥草，有特殊气味，微毒，全草含挥发油，具有抗病毒作用，可治疗上呼吸道感染、痈疽肿毒等。该科和胡椒科相近，但该科雌蕊由多心皮组成，常侧膜胎座，茎的维管束连成一环，和胡椒科不同。
