通过两性细胞结合，形成新个体的一种繁殖方式。在此过程中，一般包括有三个阶段：①是两个带细胞核的原生质体相互结合为同一个细胞的阶段，即所谓质配；②是由质配所带入同一细胞内的两性核的结合，即核配；③由于相互结合的两个性细胞，通过核配成为二倍体细胞，所以在核酸前后还有一个染色体减半，即减数分裂阶段，才能使后代个体的染色体数目与亲体一致。根据两性配子之间的差异程度，又将这种有性生殖分为三种类型：①同配生殖；②异配生殖；③卵式生殖。
