布氏拟龟（blanding's turtle，emydoidea blandingi）
外观形态：体长5- 10 1/2" （12.7-26.8 cm）。下颚和咽喉部呈亮黄色，凭此立刻就可以将它于那些晒背族们区别开来。背甲光滑，型如钢盔，色黑，上面有许多形状不规则、呈放射状排列的细点和蠕虫纹。腹甲具有铰链关节，黄色，并带有对称分布的黑色大型斑块。颈长，头部扁平，眼睛突出。雄性的腹甲轻度内凹。
繁殖：六到七月间筑巢产卵。产卵8枚左右，卵呈椭圆型，灰白色，长1 1/2" （38 mm）。八月至九月，稚龟出壳。
栖息环境：底部松软、植被丰茂的池塘、沼泽、小溪，以及湖泊的浅水区。
分布范围：五大湖地区，向西到内布拉斯加州。在新罕布什尔州南部、马萨诸塞州和纽约州的东部都有隔离的种群。
本种极为耐寒。它们以水栖为主，但时常会到陆地上来晒背，或者寻觅昆虫和蜗牛。它们生性羞怯，常在麝鼠窝或圆木上晒背，一旦受到惊扰，则会逃遁而去。
