毛泽东关于调查研究的意义和方法及关于农村调查报告的论文集。由中共中央文献研究室根据1941年延安出版的《农村调查》一书增订而成。1982年12月人民出版社出版。文集收录了毛泽东从1926～1941年所写的有关调查研究的论著、调查报告及有关材料17篇。毛泽东在《总政治部关于调查人口和土地状况的通知》一文中提出了"不做调查没有发言权"、"不做正确的调查同样没有发言权"的著名论断。他在《〈农村调查〉的序言和跋》等论文中还精辟地论述了调查研究的重要意义，强调在调查研究中要善于运用矛盾分析、阶级分析的方法,做到个别和一般、典型和全面相结合,科学的分析方法和综合方法相结合，从总体上全面地、具体地认识和掌握事物的本质和规律。在《寻邬调查》等报告中，毛泽东运用辩证唯物论观察和分析社会生活、政治生活和精神生活，或对事物的个别方面、个别阶段的经验事实进行单独的考察，然后再复归于整体，或以经验事实作为出发点通观过程的整体，得出科学的结论。
《毛泽东农村调查文集》的出版，为认识中国半封建半殖民地的社会历史提供了珍贵的资料，也对中国社会学的建设，尤其是通过社会调查了解中国国情具有指导作用。
