| 马尾藻属 Sargassum 褐藻门墨角藻科的一属。藻多大型，多年生，可区分为固着器、主干、分枝和藻叶几部分。固着器有盘状、圆锥状、假根状等。主干圆柱状，长短不一，向四周辐射分枝；分枝扁平或圆柱形。藻叶扁平，多数具有毛窝。具气囊，单生 ，圆形，倒卵形或长圆形。雌雄同托或不同托、同株或异株 。生殖托扁平，圆锥形或纺锤形 。现有 250种，大多数为暖水性种类 ，广泛分布于暖水和温水海域 ，特别是印度-西太平洋和澳大利亚。中国是马尾藻主要产地之一，有60种。盛产于广东、广西沿海，尤其是海南岛、洲岛和涠洲岛。生长在低潮带石沼中或潮下带2～3米水深处的岩石上。中国常见的有海蒿子、海黍子、鼠尾藻、匍枝马尾藻等。本属的种类是提取褐藻胶等重要的工业原料，羊栖菜可药用和食用。
