东茅岭街道办事处地处湖南岳阳市区经济文化繁华地段,东起市区迎宾路,西到京广铁路,南抵青年路,北为巴陵中路。下辖6个社区居委会,常住人8万,暂住人5320人,辖区单位147个,辖区内人口日流量近10万元。办事处现有干部职工共44人,其中在职人数为31人,离退休人数为13人。辖区居委会有干部职工48人,其中在职人数为36人,离退休人数为12人。2003年东茅岭街道办事处被市委、市政府评为一类乡镇;2004年东茅岭街道办事处又被 市委、市政府评为“五个好”党工委班子。
