为马兜铃科植物大花细辛Asarum maximum Hemsl.的带根全草。
【植物形态】
多年生草本。匍匐根状茎浅黄色，有多数肉质根，顶端通常生2叶。叶大，质厚，卵状椭圆形，长16～20cm，宽约8～10cm，顶端锐尖，基部心形；叶柄肉质，长14～20cm，疏被短柔毛。花大，单生茎顶，直径达6 cm，紫褐色；花柄长2～9 cm；花被筒短，裂片3，宽卵形，长约3cm，宽约4cm，基部具白色的横皱斑纹；雄蕊12。蒴果肉质，近球形。种子圆锥形，顶端渐尖，背面近平滑。 生于山坡林下和溪边阴湿处。分布于广东、江西、湖南、湖北、四川、江苏、浙江。

春、夏采收，洗净，晒干。

含挥发油等。
【性味】
性温，味辛。
【功能主治】
散寒止咳，祛痰除风。用于风寒感冒、头痛、咳喘、风湿痛、四肢麻木、跌伤。
