陕西牛背梁国家级自然保护区地处秦岭东段,横跨秦岭主脊南北,独特的地理位置和地质条件形成了独特、复杂和多样的地理环境,也孕育了种类及其丰富的生物资源。

| 牛背梁国家自然保护区 位于中国陕西省东南柞水县、宁陕县和长安县毗邻地区。1980年建立自然保护区，1988年成为国家级自然保护区。面积1.6万公顷。保护区海拔1000～2604米。以秦岭东段最高峰牛背梁为中心，山坡属温带针阔叶混交林，山顶为灌丛草甸，2400米以下冷杉、松林茂密，林下生长松花竹，适于羚牛栖息。秦岭所产羚牛为秦岭亚种，又称金毛扭角羚、白羊，分布范围狭窄，数量也少，据调查，20世纪50年代约有250～300只。后由于修建公路，采伐森林，1984年调查仅存72只。保护区内还有大熊猫、小熊猫、林麝、角雉、金鸡等珍贵动物。 |
