描述ImpatiensL.凤仙花属，凤仙花科，约500种，主要分布于东半球热带和温带地区，尤以山地最多，我国约180种，分布极广，但主产地为西南部，其中凤仙花I.balsaminaL.栽培供观赏用，花有单瓣和重瓣之分，颜色亦多，根供药用，有消毒、通经、散血之效。肉质草本；叶互生、对生或稍轮生，单叶，无托叶，但柄间常有腺体；花两性，左右对称，单生于叶腋内或稍簇生；萼片3，稀5枚，其侧面2枚小，绿色，下面一枚大，花瓣状，囊状，向外延伸成一距；花瓣5，或因2对合生而成3片，不等大；雄蕊5，与花瓣互生，花药粘合；子房上位，5室，每室有胚珠3至多颗；果为一蒴果，成熟时弹裂将种子弹出。
