形态特征:凤仙花科风仙属一年生草本植物，高40-100厘米。茎肉质，直立，粗壮。叶互生，披针形，长4-12厘米，宽1-3厘米。花单生或数枚簇生于叶腋，通常粉红色或杂色，单瓣或重瓣，花期6-8月。蒴果纺锤形，密生茸毛，种子多数，球形，黑色，果期9-10月。
生境分布:喜阳光和温热，不耐阴，宜生长于排水良好的湿润土壤。原产于印度、马来西亚，我国各省均有栽培。
用途:优良庭园花卉，可用于花坛、花径，也可盆栽观赏。全草及种子入药，能活血散瘀，利尿解毒。种子还可榨油。
