拉丁美洲早期建立的著名博物馆之一。在阿根廷拉普拉塔。该馆藏品原为F.P.莫雷诺的私人收藏，1877年捐献给布宜诺斯艾利斯考古与人类博物馆，1882年迁至拉普拉塔,1888年11月19日对外开放,1906年归属国立拉普拉塔大学，正式定名为拉普拉塔自然科学博物馆。现设11个部门22个陈列室。1层有地质学、矿物学、古生物学、民俗学、动物学、埃及等部； 2层有南美人类学、南美和阿根廷民族学、美洲考古、阿根廷考古、植物学等部门,展出美洲特别是南美洲的自然矿产、古生物、古人类、动物、植物标本，也有埃及、秘鲁的文化遗物以及印加人的珍贵文物。其中，哺乳类动物和鱼类标本相当齐全，南美已灭绝的动物标本是极其难得的珍贵资料。
