北仑河口红树林自然保护区
北仑河口海洋自然保护区位于广西防城港市防城区和东兴市的北仑河(中越界河)河口三角洲我方一侧,面积为2680公顷。属于海洋和海岸生态系统类型,拥有河口海岸。开阔海岸和海湾海岸等地貌类型,主要保护北仑河口和珍珠港的红树林及其海洋自然生态系统。保护区具有红树林连片生长面积大、分布相对集中、生态景观奇特、地理位置特殊、动植物种类组成和群落结构随海岸类型变化而呈多样化等特征,在遗传、物种和生态系统等方面具有我国其他的海区不可代替的作用。
1990年3月,广西区政府批准在该地建立省级海洋自然保护区,1998年5月,由国家海洋局经国土资源部。向国务院申报,在1999年11月召开的国家级自然保护区评审会上获得全体评审委员一致通过,日前终获国务院批准建立为国家级海洋当然保护区。
