      工频单相交流电力机车上用于改变电源电压的装置。牵引变压器的作用原理和普通变压器相同。牵引变压器中有:同高压接触网相接的绕组,称为原边绕组或高压绕组;向硅整流器或大功率晶闸管和牵引电动机供电的副边绕组,称为牵引绕组;向机车上各辅助电机供电或有其他特殊用途的绕组,称为辅助绕组。牵引变压器的工作条件特殊,如在运行中受到振动,空间尺寸和重量受到限制,当副边绕组发生短路故障时各绕组承受相当大的短路作用力。为了适应这些条件,牵引变压器要能承受较高的电磁负荷,要用油强迫循环冷却,它的零部件和支撑件要有足够的强度。利用牵引变压器调压可以调节机车运行速度。调压方式有高压侧调压和低压侧调压。近年来通常用晶闸管调压来代替牵引变压器调压。
