位于西藏自治区墨脱县境内，面积62620公顷，主要保护山地森林垂直景观及珍稀动植物。地处雅鲁藏布江大拐弯的峡谷之中，由于特殊的地理环境，发育着热带到寒温带的不同山地森林植被类型。高等植物有3000多种，约占全国的1/10，其中国家重点保护动物21种，以墨脱命名的特有植物40多种。国家重点保护动物有羚牛、长尾中猴、熊猴、虎、墨脱缺翅虫等42种。是研究不同气候带生态系统的重要基地。
