      宋元间词人。字君衡,一字衡仲,号西麓,别署莆澹室后人。四明(今浙江宁波)人。生卒年不详。德祐元年(1275)时任沿海制置司参议。元至元十五年(1278),以图谋恢复旧朝之嫌入狱。经同官袁洪营救得免。后被征,北赴大都。晚年居家。
  
  陈允平是格律派词家。青年时代即与张枢、李彭老及周密等酬唱。词学周邦彦,刻意摹仿。《西麓继周集》120余首,皆和清真词韵。《日湖渔唱》又喜改换韵脚的平仄,可见其精于审音。填词以平正和雅、清婉绵丽为特色。所作《西湖十咏》颇见寄托。如"御苑烟花,宫斜露草,几度西风弹指"。(〔齐天乐〕《南屏晚钟》)等,伤时念乱,凄恻感人。其他如"琴心不度春云远,断肠难托啼鹃"(〔绛都春〕)、"玉宇无尘凉似水,销不尽,许多情"(〔糖多令〕),或疏或密,并饶风致。陈词偏重艺术形式,颇为清代浙派词人所推崇。朱彝尊编《词综》,选录其词23首之多。陈廷焯在《白雨斋词话》中推许他为"词中上乘"。但常州派的周济却斥为"疲软凡庸,无有是处。书中有馆阁书,西麓殆馆阁词也"(《介存斋论词杂著》)。在现存约200首词作中,祝寿、咏物与和韵之作占了绝大部分。王国维在《人间词话》说:"梅溪(史达祖)、梦窗(吴文英)、玉田(张炎)、草窗(周密)、西麓诸家,词虽不同,然同失之肤浅。"这是精当之评。
  
  著有《西麓诗稿》及《西麓继周集》、《日湖渔唱》词二种。《日湖渔唱》有《词学丛书》本,《粤雅堂丛书》本,《彊村丛书》本。《西麓继周集》有《彊村丛书》本。《西麓诗稿》有汲古阁景抄《南宋六十家小集》本。
