yQnhan diqu严寒地区(extreme Cold area)最冷月或一定时期内平均气温低于一15℃的地区。严寒地区风雪多、积雪深、冻土层厚、江河湖泊冻结期长，对人类活动、生物演化等均产生深刻影响，也是对军事活动有特殊影响的地区。 严寒地区是在长期冷冻的气候条件下形成的。按年气温与地表景观的变化可分为终年严寒地区和季节性严寒地区。①终年严寒地区，指常年冰天雪地，或有短暂冻融交替期的荒凉地区。季节变化并不能改变其自身独特的地形、气候和景观特征。永久冻土层厚，空气潮湿，多浓雾和风暴，无树木生长，人烟稀少。物资贫乏，生存条件差，遂行作战任务极其困难。主要分布于极地及其附近，包括亚欧大陆和北美大陆的北缘，格陵兰、北冰洋诸岛和南极大陆，以及中高纬度的高山雪线以上地区。②季节性严寒地区，指冬季严寒、冰天雪地，夏季冰雪消融、气候温凉的地区。寒暖季节分明，气候和景观特征变化很大。永久冻土层薄，冬季地面坚硬，便于部队行动;夏季地表冰雪和冻土消融，道路泥泞，常有雪崩，对部队行动有一定限制。主要分布于寒温带及其以北至亚寒带和中低纬度的一些高山地区。 严寒地区气候寒冷，气温日较差大。由于雪面的绝热性能好，冰雪层又有一定的防弹片杀伤作用，可利用冰雪、冻土构筑工事。在严寒地区作战，人员易发生冻伤、雪盲，易暴露目标;部队行动时负荷量大，行军速度下降;武器装备效能降低，易发生机械断裂等故障;雷达和各种电子装备的元件参数变化大，且易损坏;工程、通信和后勤保障困难。 (李喜来)
