中国清代画家髡残的代表作。髡残 (1612～1671以后),字石谿，一字介丘，号白秃，自称残道人。俗姓刘，武陵(今湖南常德)人。居金陵(今南京)。明亡后出家为僧。此图纸本，设色，纵 169厘米，横41.5厘米。画叠壑重泉，繁林茂树，高崖古刹，山洞中一人盘坐，下临清溪、水榭、茅屋，潭边草房中二人对坐交谈。远水苍茫，风帆点点。意境幽深、高远，笔墨繁复、滋润。本幅左上方自题五言诗："层岩与叠壑，云深万木稠，惊泉飞岭外，猿鹤静无俦，中有幽人居，傍溪而临流，日夕谭佳语，愿随鹿豕游，大江天一线，来往贾人舟，何如道人意，无欲自优游。"下题"癸卯秋九月过幽间精舍写此以志其怀焉。天壤石溪残道者。"有"雪盦铭心之品"及张大千鉴赏印6方。《虚斋名画录》著录。《层岩叠壑图》现藏故宫博物院。
