风景区北靠黑山，山势雄伟壮丽，建于明永乐年的长城似飘带蜿蜒起伏。湖东的千尺短崖直耸云天，山上的长城用黄色的花岗岩构筑，保存完好，坚固精美。
这里更有一段水上长城，乃长城景观中绝无仅有的奇观。明朝年间还建有西水峪关，为黄花城长城的重要关口，现在仅存遗迹。景区内还有紫翠峰、凤凰台、腾龙索、水帘洞等景观。
