| 北海市 位于中国广西壮族自治区南部，北部湾东北岸。南、西部沿海。面积3337平方千米。辖合浦县。1992年人口127.78万 。有汉 、壮等民族 。清康熙元年 （ 1662 ）设北海镇标。1926年设“北海市行政筹备处”。1929年置北海镇。1950年设北海市。1984年辟为对外开放城市。属亚热带海洋性气候。年均降水量1644毫米 ，年均温22.6℃。濒临北部湾，海产资源丰富，是中国六大渔场之一。主要鱼类500多种，虾类 43种，另有蟹类、贝类、头足类、爬行类及哺乳类等种类繁多的海生动物和藻类等多种植物。北部湾大陆架蕴藏总储量约5亿吨的石油和丰富的天然气。有总储量约1930 万吨的石英砂、储量约30亿吨的陶土。农作物有水稻、花生、甘蔗、蔬菜等。森林面积0.47 万公顷。主要土特产有珍珠、海参、文蛤 、河虫 、鱿鱼、地鱼 、红鱼、鳝肚、贝雕画、烟花爆竹。工业以渔业和对外贸易为主。交通以海上运输为主，有北海港、南港、高德港和南湾港。1992年国民生产总值 32.69亿元。名胜古迹有冠头岭、王龙岩、白虎头海滩、草花岭、涠洲、斜阳海岛风光、高墎古遗址。
