中国人民解放军军事科学院的一个直属研究机构。1980年成立于北京。最初的名称是作战运筹分析研究室，1986年改为现名。它是中国人民解放军最早成立的为军事领导部门进行决策咨询和多学科综合研究的国防系统分析研究机构之一。军事运筹分析研究所的基本任务是：应用运筹学和系统工程的理论与方法，以电子计算机为手段，研究在现代条件下，诸军兵种合成作战的战略、战役和战术问题，为在军事学术、作战指挥、教育训练、战略评估、编制体制、后勤保障等方面探索新的研究途径，为国防现代化建设中的宏观决策科学化提供辅助手段，及时向军委和总部提供咨询与建议，并为部队、院校提供信息、资料和技术服务。军事运筹分析研究所在宏观论证、作战模拟、指挥自动化、机器翻译、军事文献库以及图形显示方面已取得了一批研究成果。出版刊物有《军事系统工程》。该所是中国系统工程学会军事系统工程分会第二届委员会的挂靠单位，并与国内外有着广泛的学术联系。
