On basis of the working experience in Qinling tunnel on Xi an～Ankang railway and Mogouling tunnel on Xi an～Nanjing railway,the authors make some comments on the capabilities that the civil engineering technical personnel engaged in TBM tunneling should have and briefly present the relevant knowledge of TB880E tunnel boring machine.
