   脆性破裂、剪切和研磨作用而产生的一种固结的细粒岩石。广泛分布于地壳浅层断层带内,由碎斑和基质组成。碎斑是原岩破裂的角砾或矿物的碎粒,基质主要是原岩的微细碎砾,又称碎基 ,其粒径小于2毫米 。碎斑的形状与断层带的力学性质以及原岩的物理性质有关。碎裂岩一般具有碎斑结构、碎粒结构,块状构造和带状构造,球对称组构或低密度的优选方位。按碎斑与基质的含量比例,可将碎裂岩分为初碎裂岩,基质占10%~50%;碎裂岩,基质占50%~90%,主要粒级在0.5~1.0毫米之间 ;超碎裂岩 ,基质为90%~100%,主要粒级小于0.1毫米。
