| 砖雕 tile carving 在青砖上雕刻出人物、山水、花卉等图案，用以装饰建筑物的构件和墙面。通常也指用青砖雕刻而成的雕塑工艺品。中国砖雕是由东周瓦当、空心砖和汉代画像砖发展而来的，多作为墓室壁面的装饰品。明清以后，砖雕运用于建筑装饰。不仅南京明孝陵宫城和北京紫禁城宫殿的墙面用砖雕装饰，而且地方的官吏、富豪、地主宅院的厅堂、大门、照壁、祠堂、戏台等也都装饰有雕刻精巧的砖雕，争奇斗艳。砖雕可以近观远赏，多采用龙凤呈祥、和合二仙、刘海戏金蟾、三阳开泰、郭子仪作寿、麒麟送子、狮子滚绣球、松柏、兰花、竹、山茶、菊花、荷花、鲤鱼等寓意吉祥和人们喜闻乐见的题材。雕刻技法主要有阴刻（刻划轮廓）、压地隐起的浅浮雕、深浮雕、圆雕（不附着任何背景，适宜于从多角度观赏的完全立体的雕塑技法）、镂雕（又称透雕，是将底板或背后镂空的浮雕）、减地平雕（阴线刻划形象轮廓，并将轮廓以外的空地凿低铲平）等。
