印度大神湿婆之妻。音译为波哩婆提，她前生是梵天之子达刹的女儿萨蒂。她不顾父亲反对，自愿嫁给湿婆。后来达刹举行马祭，遍邀所有天神参加，唯独将湿婆排除在外；萨蒂找父亲质问，反而受到奚落，愤而自杀。她死后再生为喜马拉雅山神的女儿雪山神女，名叫优摩。她又长成美貌的少女，一心要嫁给湿婆。当时湿婆正在修炼苦行，丝毫不为她的美色动心。天神们希望湿婆和优摩结婚,好让他俩生个儿子,战胜扰乱天堂的魔王。他们先派遣爱神去破坏湿婆的苦行，没有成功。最后优摩通过修炼最严酷的苦行，获得湿婆的爱情，才与湿婆结为夫妻。他们婚后生了两个儿子。第一个儿子室犍陀打败魔王，为天堂赢得和平。第二个儿子群主能禳灾除邪，是一群小神的统帅。优摩后来被附会上一些降魔女神的形象，如难近母、迦梨女神等。难近母是黄皮肤妇女，身骑老虎。迦梨女神是黑皮肤妇女，容貌可怖，颈上佩戴骷髅，身上盘缠毒蛇，与原来优摩美貌的形象完全不同。
