这个系统是以ABS为基础发展而成的。系统主要在大侧向加速度,大侧偏角的极限工况下工作,它利用左右两侧制动力之差产生的横摆力偶矩来防止出现难以控制的侧滑现象,如在弯道行驶中因前轴侧滑而失去路径跟踪能力的驶出现象及后轴侧滑甩尾而失去稳定性的激转现象等危险工况。
