为菱科植物菱或其同属植物的果皮。植物形态详"菱"条。
【功用主治】
治泄泻，脱肛，痔疮，疔肿，黄水疮，天泡疮。 ①《滇南本草》："烧灰为末，调菜油搽痔疮。" ②《纲目》："止泄痢。" ③《纲目拾遗》："治头面黄水疮。" ④《本草推陈》："止便血。"
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤。外用：烧存性研末调敷或煎水洗。
【选方】
①治脱肛：先将麻油润湿肠上，自去浮衣，再将风菱壳水净之。(《张氏必验方》) ②治头面黄水疮：隔年老菱壳，烧存性，麻油调敷。(《医宗汇编》) ③治无名肿毒及天泡疮：老菱壳烧灰，香油调敷。(黄贩翁《医抄》) ④治指生天蛇：风菱角，灯火上烧灰存性，研末，香油调敷。未溃者即散，已溃者止痛。(《医宗汇编》)
