  指某地区年内每100名活产数中,出生体重低于2500g的新生儿发生数之比值。其计算公式为:低出生体重儿发生率=〓〓某年某地区出生体重〓〓低于2500g的新生儿数〓〓年内该地区活产数〓〓×100%出生低体重儿有因孕龄低,而体重与孕龄相符,其预后与早产儿相似。有孕龄达足月而体重低于2500g者为足月低体重,其预后常不同于早产儿。足月低体重儿死亡率常较早产儿低,即使存活者其智力发育也常较慢,不如早产儿存活者。
