性质:又称钙依蛋白酶(calcium-dependent protease;calpains)。广泛而大量地存在于脊椎动物的各种组织和细胞中。是一种典型的半胱氨酸蛋白酶,其活性绝对需要钙离子,在中性pH值,并有还原剂(如DTT)存在的条件下,其活性最高;而在巯基修饰剂和钙离子螯合剂(如EDTA)存在时,活性降低或丧失。其功能涉及蛋白激酶C的活化,细胞骨架蛋白的水解,其他蛋白激酶的磷酸化,微管蛋白的聚合和解集等。
