为堇菜科植物灰叶堇菜的根。
【植物形态】
灰叶堇菜 宿根蔓生草本，稍有白霜。地下茎短，具多数黑褐色侧根；地上茎细弱，下部无叶，通常不分枝。基生叶1片或缺，卵状心形；茎生叶具柄，厚纸质，宽卵形或三角状卵形，基部浅心形或截形，边缘具波状锯齿，长1.5～4厘米，上部叶卵状披针形；托叶草质，卵形或矩圆形，长6毫米或较短，有疏粗齿或全缘。花两侧对称；萼片5，条形，顶端尖，有柔毛，基部附器不显著；花瓣5，黄色，距很短，长约1毫米。果小，近矩圆形，直径约5毫米。 生于林下溪边、阴湿草地。分布云南、四川等地。

秋、冬采挖，洗净晒干。
【性味】
酸甘，温。
【功用主治】
温经通络，除湿止痛。

①治慢性风湿关节炎：土细辛一钱。研末，每日二至三次，酒送服。 ②治小儿麻痹：土细辛一钱。水煎服。
