利用低温液体或者气体制冷机,使样品处在恒定的或可按需要变化低温温度的空间,并能对样品进行一种或多种物理量测量的装置。
恒温器的结构应根据测量的内容而作专门的考虑,比如测量比热的量热器式恒温器要考虑将漏热尽可能减小到可忽略的量级。而热导率测量的恒温器要考虑有一个热流的通路,能在样品上建立一个恒定的热流。而低温获得的最方便的方法就是将装置浸泡入低温液体。如用液氮可得77K,如是液氦可得4.2K。将液体抽气减压,用恒压器恒定液体的蒸气压的方法可取得与该饱和蒸气相对应的温度,即可选定从沸点到三相点之间的任一温度。也可以用抽成高真空的办法使样品空间与低温液池绝热,然后用电加热的方法,通过电子控温仪来控制样品的温度,这样可取得很宽的温度区间,同时能得到很好的温度均匀性与稳定性,对精确测量物理量是必不可少的。
