描述PoikilospermumZipp.exMiq.锥头麻属，荨麻科，20种；产喜马拉雅东部至马来西亚，我国有2种，产云南。攀援灌木，无乳汁；叶螺旋排列，羽状脉；托叶大，连台成鳞片状；花单性，组成球形的头状花序，复再排成圆锥花序状；雄花无柄，花被倒圆锥状，裂片4，镊合状排列；雄蕊4；芽时直立；退化雌蕊狭小；雌花序由3－5个大的头状花序所组成，雌花有柄；花被与雄花的同，无退化雄蕊；子房压扁，胚珠1枚基生；果藏于稍增大的花被内。本属常被置于桑科，惟胚珠基生似应置于荨麻科较妥。
