南昌理工学院经济管理系致力于培养适应市场经济发展所需要的观念新、视野宽、创新能力强的现代经济管理人才。本系专业设置涵盖经济、管理、法律三大门类，包括统招本科专业：工商管理、市场营销；统招大专专业：工商管理、市场营销、物流管理、国际经济与贸易、金融与证券、会计电算化、文秘、旅游管理、公共事务管理、法律事务。
经济管理系师资力量雄厚，现有教授 9 人，副教授 23 人；拥有硕士研究生及以上学位教师 36 人，已初步形成一支理论教学和实践经验丰富，朝气蓬勃奋发向上具有创新精神的老中青相结合的教师队伍。从 2003 年以来，专兼职教师中，在省级以上刊物发表文章 30 多篇，出版专著 3 部，出版教材 15 部，完成院级课题 5 项，省级课题 5 项，取得了较丰富的教学和科研成果。
经济管理系目前建有校内实训基地：管理模拟实验室，金融与贸易模拟实验室、会计电算化实验室、办公自动化模拟实验室、财会手工模拟实验室和模拟法庭，通过加强软、硬件建设，采用先进的模拟教学软件，培养学生实际动手能力和操作。我系还建有资料室、报刊阅览室，为教学、科研服务。
经济管理系经过六年的跌宕沉浮，全体教职工的顽强拼搏，以 “ 教学质量是生命，人才市场为导向 ” 的办学原则，创造了跨越式发展的历史奇迹。教学中，注重外语、计算机、学生专业技能的培养；注重理论教学与实践教学相结合，培养既掌握基本理论、知识，又具有实践技能的经营管理高级应用型人才。
