植物形态：常绿灌木，高达2米，少分枝。叶互生，近革质，长椭圆形或狭椭圆形，长5~15厘米，宽2~5厘米，基部楔形或圆形，先端渐尖，全缘或下部全缘，中部以上有疏锯齿，无毛，叶柄长0.5~1厘米。花黄白色，腋生总状花序，萼、花冠5裂，雄蕊5枚，子房半下位，1室。特立中央胎座。浆果球形或卵形，萼与花柱宿存。 生态分布：产我国长江中下游各省至福建、广东等地；多生于常绿阔叶林下。 药用部分：叶、根入药，全年可采。 用途：性味苦，寒。能祛风寒，消肿胀，治腰痛，感冒头痛，目眩。
