【来源】
为大戟科植物大狼毒的根。
【植物形态】
大狼毒，又名：五虎下西山、搜山虎。 多年生草木，高达50厘米，折断有白色乳汁。根圆柱形，不分枝，外皮黑褐色；内面黄白色。单叶互生；长圆形，长4.5～6.5厘米，宽1厘米，先端钝，基部楔形，全缘；无柄。花常6～8朵生于茎顶或单生于叶腋；淡黄色。蒴果圆球形，直径约1.3厘米，外有软刺，成熟时3室开裂。花期夏季。 生于山坡草地。分布云南等地。
【采集】
秋季采挖，洗净，切片，晒干，研粉。
【性味】
苦辛，温，有毒。 ①《滇南本草》："性温，味苦麻，有大毒。" ②《云南中草药》："苦，温，剧毒。"
【功用主治】
《云南中草药》："止血，消炎，消肿。治外伤出血。"
【宜忌】
本品有毒，不可内服。
【选方】
治疥癞疮。大狼毒、花椒，为细末，香油或猪油调搽。避风。(《滇南本草》)
