   生物生活的空间和其中全部生态因子的总和。生态因子包括光照、温度、水分、空气、无机盐类等非生物因子和食物、天敌等生物因子。生境一词多用于类称,概括地指某一类群的生物经常生活的区域类型,也可用于特称,具体指某一个体、种群或群落的生活场所,强调现实生态环境。一般描述植物的生境常着眼于环境的非生物因子(如气候、土壤条件等),描述动物的生境则多侧重于植被类型。生境一词不同于生态位。美国生态学家E.P.奥德姆曾将生境比作生物的住址,而将生态位比作生物的职业。
