Application of Whole Language Approach to the improvement of non-English-major college students English proficiency, with exemplary class design for Text A, Unit 2 from College English (New Edition) Book 1;

The paper, based on the year-long teaching experiment,summarizes the connotations,features and teaching principles of such approach,discusses its concrete application and concludes,upon questionnaires,contrastive analysis of listening test results and analysis of composition samples,that this approach is of use in improving the English proficiency of non-English majors.

By aquestionnaire and sample compositions survey,this paper illustrates that Whole Language Approach will help improve the English proficiency of non-English-major college students.

Proceeding with teaching content,method and evaluation,the authors studied and discussed the individualized English teaching mode for seven-year program medical students by combining classroom teaching and after-class independent learning,cultivating both the students English comprehensive ability and specialized English skills to enhance their English level and learning ability.

This paper stresses the necessity for training college students English integrated applied abili- ties,explores the implication of improving integrated applied abilities,and puts forward some measures to improve students English integrated applied abilities.

By applying Multiple Intelligences Theory(MI)into the Task Based Language Teaching in terms of task goals,input materials,activities,roles of students and teachers,setting and task assessment,this paper attempts to form a new teaching model which is more effective in arousing the interest of all students rather than part of them,and promoting their comprehensive use of English.
