| 奥斯汀（1921～ ） Austin，Derek William 英国文献学家。生于伦敦。1938年开始在公共图书馆供职。后到英国拉夫巴勒图书馆学院学习。1949年通过英国图书馆协会证书考试。担任过公共图书馆参考馆员等职。1963年参加《英国国家书目》编制工作。1967年加入英国分类法研究组，致力于以分面组配为基础的新分类法研究。后来创造了保持原意索引法（PRECIS），被《英国国家书目》所采用，引起国际图书馆和信息界关注，并先后应用于一些英联邦国家和德国的书目工作中。1976年他因此荣获国际信息与文献联合会（FID）首届阮冈纳赞奖。1978年美国图书馆协会又授予他玛格丽特·曼奖。著有《PRECIS：概念分析与主题标引手册》和《保留上下文索引系统手册》等。 |
