为菊科植物高株山莴苣的根。
【植物形态】
高株山莴苣 多年生草本，高80～150厘米。茎幼时有细软长毛。叶基生及互生，有带翅长柄，卵形或马蹄形，长达12厘米，边缘有三角形带尖头的钝锯齿，基部常抱茎而为耳状。头状花序多数，集成柱状狭圆锥形；全为舌状花，黄色。瘦果倒卵状椭圆形，长4毫米，冠毛白色。 生于高山山坡灌丛中。分布陕西、安徽、浙江等地。
【采集】
6月采挖，晒干备用。
【性味】
辛，平。
【功用主治】
止咳化痰，祛风。治风寒咳嗽，肺结核。
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，2～3钱。
【选方】
治咳嗽：水紫菀、款冬花、桔梗各三钱，甘草一钱，水煎服。
