是一种获得1K以下温度的装置。装样品的空间与一液3He池连接在一起，并放入真空室与外液4He池绝热。在真空室内的液3He池上方连一个可以减压到1K温度的4He池，当3He气体经过一个流阻缓慢地通过1K池时就被液化为1K温度的液3He，而后进入3He池。这时可对3He池抽气减压就可以获得0.3K的低温。
对液3He的减压降温比对液4He的减压降温要容易得多，在1K温度下液3He的饱和蒸气压是液4He的1千倍左右，又没有液4He在超流态下的爬行膜引起的额外蒸发，而为了限制这蒸发量就要限制膜流需加限流孔，这又影响了抽速的提高。
在1K以下的液3He有相当高的冷却能力，在0.3K时它的潜热为26.20J·mol-1，而一般的金属在这温度下的比热已非常小，如铜在1K时的比热为12μJ·g-1·K-1。而1升3He气体可得0.3K的1.63ml的液体，具有1.16J的汽化潜热，可把200kg铜从1K冷却到0.3K。
