Qunkuqiake structural belt is located on the updip part of Maigaiti slope, southwest depression of Tarim basin, in which commercial gas and oil flows from several Carboniferous zones were discovered.

The tentative ideas of exploration in the near future in the southwest region of Tarim Basin are: (1)to enlarge oiland gas bearing domain of the Kekeya oil and gas field, (2)to put drilling emphasis on the Qukuqiake structure and theYingjisha anticline, and (3)to carry out a thorough seismic investigation in the Keliyang , Yuliqun and Qibei struc-tures.
