荞麦皮,就是荞麦的壳皮。
荞麦原生地在亚洲的中北部,中国是其原生地之一。全世界的荞麦属有15个种,云南有11个种。茎直立有分枝,质柔软。叶戟形,互生。总状或圆锥状花序。花被五深裂,裂片呈长椭圆形,色白或淡红。籽实为三棱形瘦果,黑、褐或灰色。栽培荞麦有3种类型:①普通荞麦,又称甜荞。②鞑靼荞麦,又称苦荞。③有翅荞麦。荞麦亦称荞子,是粮食作物中的小杂粮,全省各县均有种植。1995年,种植面积10.82万公顷,平均亩产70.l8千克。生长期短,全生育期仅2~3个月。为短日照作物,喜凉爽湿润,不耐高温,畏霜冻,耐瘠抗旱。是粮食、蔬菜、饲料兼用型作物,为山区人民抗灾度荒的主要食粮。云南栽培荞麦分为甜荞、苦荞两大类。甜荞又分为红花、白花2个种,多分布在海拔2500米以下地区。苦荞又分为细长荞、大长荞、细团荞和大团荞4个种,多分布在海拔3400米以下地区。
荞麦皮常常用来填充枕头的枕心。荞麦皮枕头软硬适度,冬暖夏凉,特别是枕在上面不会“落枕”。
