继昌隆缫丝厂 中国最早的机器缫丝工厂,也是最早由私人经营的近代工业企业之一。俗称继昌隆丝偈。1873年由侨商陈启源创办,厂址在广东南海西椎。初创时仅有丝釜数十部。丝厂采用锅炉热水蒸气煮茧,代替手工缫丝的炭水煮茧。这种新法缫丝粗细均匀,丝色洁净,弹性也较好。产品售价高出手工缫丝1/ 3 ,获利很多。此后生产规模逐渐扩大,丝釜最多时达800 部。后因机器缫丝业效率高,遭到手工缫丝业者的强烈反对,继昌隆被迫关闭,迁往澳门。后又迁回南海,改用手摇的缫丝小机。到19世纪末20世纪初,顺德、南海等地已成为中国最早的近代缫丝工业中心。继昌隆后改名利厚生,几经转手,到20世纪20年代已不存在。 |
