x-10 由北美航空公司研制，是专门为 mx-770（b/sm-64）“纳瓦霍”洲际巡航导弹计划而开发的一种超音速无人驾驶试验飞行器，用来搜集空气动力学设计、控制和自动导航系统的数据。x-10 机长 20.14 米，机高 4.51 米，翼展为 8.56 米。x-10 的机体设计比较有特色，采用下三角翼、双垂直安定翼和机鼻鸭翼的布局。此外，可收放起落架和助降伞能使 x-10 重复使用。x-10 安装有两台威斯汀豪斯 j40-we-1 涡轮喷气发动机，其最大速度为 2.05 马赫。最初 x-10 的飞行由地面无线电控制，后来则开始使用自动导航系统。
1953 年 10 月 14 日，x-10 在爱德华兹空军基地进行了首飞。尽管 x-10 的试验飞行很顺利，但随着 1957 年“纳瓦霍”项目（纳瓦霍为美国一个印第安人部落名，其使用的语言十分复杂，因而在太平洋战争期间美军曾招募了一批纳瓦霍人作为密码通讯员）的下马，x-10 的飞行也很快被中止。其后大部分 x-10 被充当靶机使用，目前仅存的唯一一架 x-10 保存在美国俄亥俄州代顿美国空军博物馆内。
